VIENNA INSTRUMENTS
VIENNA INSTRUMENTS, the most powerful Virtual Instruments on the market, embody intelligent Performance Algorithms into an easy-to-use VST/AU/RTAS plug-in to orchestrate an inconceivably vast array of samples. For the first time hundreds of inspiring articulations can be combined in one Preset and on a single MIDI track. Our proprietary Performance Detection analyzes intervals, repeated notes, patterns, and even playing speed in real-time, and automatically summons the appropriate articulation or nuance.
You can use Vienna Instruments on your Mac or PC in three ways:
- As a plug-in in our mixing and host software Vienna Ensemble (or another host application)
- As a plug-in in your sequencer – e.g., Cubase, Logic, Digital Performer, Pro Tools (Mac only) etc. – or notation software (e.g., Sibelius)
- As a simple stand-alone application.
Vienna Instruments collections include the player software and a set of sound samples. As such, the installation of Vienna Instruments is basically done in two parts. You need to install the Vienna Instruments software (the current version of which can be downloaded from the User Area) as well as the sample library of the given product. (Before doing this, however, you also have to install the Syncrosoft License Control Center that you will need in order to download the license to your ViennaKey.) You only need to install the player software once, regardless of how many Vienna Instruments collections you are installing.
DVD and Download Products
There are 3 categories of Vienna Instruments:
- The big Vienna Instruments DVD Collections are the most comprehensive products, containing the most complete articulations of the various instruments that enable you to create sonic results of the highest caliber and utmost authenticity. You can get them as individual collections (e.g., Solo Strings, Chamber Strings I, Appassionata Strings I, etc.) or in bundles (e.g., Strings Package).
- The Vienna Special Editions are the entry-level essence of the Vienna Symphonic Library. They contain the most important playing techniques of all of the instruments at a very fair price, making them irresistible collections for newcomers or anyone who needs a resource-efficient all-round companion for orchestra and more. There are two DVD collections offering the full range of instruments, the Vienna Special Edition and its expansion set Special Edition PLUS. The instrument groups of the Special Editions (Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion & More) are also available as download collections.
- Single Instrument Downloads are exactly that – single instruments that are available as downloads only. They offer more articulations than the Vienna Special Editions, but less than the big Vienna Instruments DVD collections.
There are additional Single Instrument Downloads that do not include any kind of reduced basic sample set, but contain full-fledged versions of instruments, offering the complete articulations on par with the ones of the big Vienna Instruments DVD Collections (as described in #1). These instruments are only available as downloads, and can be considered add-ons to the big DVD collections. Currently these instruments, marked with an asterisk (*), are available for download:
Standard and Extended Libraries
Most Vienna Instruments collections include a Standard and an Extended Library. The Standard Library contains the most important articulations. The Extended Library offers further articulations for all instruments of a given collection.
The Vienna Special Editions are organized differently. Here you find the core instruments in their Standard Libraries, while the Extended Libraries offer additional instruments.
When you install your Vienna Instruments DVD collections, both the Standard and Extended Libraries are always installed on your hard drive, even when you have purchased only the Standard Library of any given DVD collection. In that case, you may test-drive the collection’s Extended Library for a demo period of 30 days, after which you may elect to purchase the Extended Library for continued use. Download products that consist of a Standard and Extended Library can be installed separately, but you cannot use the Extended Library without having installed the corresponding Standard Library.
