Dorico Wizard

What is the Dorico Wizard?
The "Dorico Wizard" not only installs, like the previous "VSL for Dorico Installer", Dorico Expression Maps, Endpoint Configurations, and Playback Templates, but also independently creates Playback Templates. For this purpose, the libraries installed by the customer are used. The customer has the option to generate various Playback Templates according to their preferences. They can either create these templates effortlessly with a few mouse clicks, or prioritize their libraries according to their own preferences. This paves the way for particularly fast and effective work with Dorico and our libraries. The "VSL for Dorico Wizard" is integrated into Vienna Assistant and replaces the "VSL for Dorico Installer".
What are Dorico Playback Templates?
Dorico Playback Templates automatically load the appropriate VST instruments, including presets and associated Expression Maps, for the instruments present in a Dorico score. Technically, a Playback Template is an XML file that contains references to Endpoint Configurations. Endpoint Configurations, in turn, are also XML files that specify which VST instrument with which plugin state and which Expression Map should be loaded for each Dorico instrument. Each library with Dorico settings has at least one (or more) Endpoint Configuration.
Why is such software necessary?
Due to the countless combinations of libraries that users can combine, the number of required Dorico Playback Templates increases not linearly, but exponentially with each release. Managing such a large number of preconfigured Playback Templates is no longer feasible. Even the current number of Playback Templates installed by the "VSL for Dorico Installer" is nearly unmanageable and still incomplete. The Wizard gives the user the ability to generate exactly the Playback Templates they need.
The "Dorico Wizard" is a unique tool that will provide significant benefits to Dorico users in a straightforward manner. It has the potential to significantly increase our library sales among Dorico users. Additionally, it is a unique selling point and a marketable sales argument compared to competitors.
