This relatively dry recording room provided the ideal backdrop, allowing his smooth and consistent timbre to unfold beautifully. The Artful Whistler
Meet the Vienna Whistler: the truly fascinating sounds in this collection were performed by our very own Marcus Schmidinger, an acclaimed horn player who is also a gifted art whistler. During the recordings for various horn and brass libraries, we discovered his talent and his incredibly homogenous timbre over a wide key range of approximately two octaves. As an aside, so-called “art whistlers” echo an Austrian tradition of the 19th century when they would perform in Viennese community theatres, vaudeville shows and cabarets.
