The Vibraphone was developed in 1921. Its pleasant, soft sound is equally suited for melodies and harmonic accompaniment. The recorded samples include hard and soft mallets, motor on and off, and other beaters and effects. Crotales descended from antique cymbals first used during the Bronze Age. The crotales of Synchron Percussion II were played with plastic and metal beaters, and also feature rolls, glissandos, and bowed articulations.
